Funeral of Mollie Weinstein Schaffer, April 11, 2012

If you could enjoy your own funeral, my mother would have loved hers. It was lovely, and everything she would have wanted, complete with eulogies by her daughter and granddaughter, escort by the Jewish War Veterans of Post 89, and full military funeral honors which included the playing of Taps, flag folding, and the presentation of the flag to her family.

Mollie Passes Away

It is with a heavy heart that I have to write that my mother, Mollie Weinstein Schaffer, passed away  peacefully on Saturday night after a long illness.   She was a member of the greatest generation and served her country as a WAC stationed in Europe during WWII.   We are saddened and she will be missed very much by all who knew her. Taking over holiday duties, daughter reflects on family traditions

Please read a wonderful article from a friend, Dorothy Lipovenko in Montreal, that she wrote for the Montreal Gazette about the “passing of the torch” from generation to generation for hosting holiday events.   She mentioned my mother and me (and “Mollie’s War”) in the article. http://www.montrealgazette.com/life/Taking+over+holiday+duties+daughter+reflects+family+traditions/6395556/story.html
